Pretoria Local Picks The South African artist, Idalet, joined the University of Pretoria’s choir, as one of their student soprano soloists, on a European Tour in 1982. Her appreciation of Europe’s renaissance fine art made a lasting impression on her artwork.

Approximately 15 years later, her supportive neighbour offered Idalet the most beautifully arched wooden frames and she started to paint a stunning selection of artwork, offering a modern take on the much-loved Madonna Icons.

Her radiant, African-inspired pieces gained international recognition when she was selected by the South African government to exhibit in Cologne, Germany. This opportunity opened doors to international acclaim, and for several years, Idalet divided her time between South Africa and Germany, captivating audiences with her exhibitions.
