Idalet, an artist's love for interior decorating
Share
Idalet’s love for interior decorating and the success of her architect designed house in the nearby town of Somerset West, which featured in various magazines, newspapers and interior decorating books, made her change course from antique shop owner to professional artist.
“The sitting room (above) with its conglomerate of fabrics, colours and objects. The huge fireplace dwarfs the actual ‘fire’ – a bright green Fifties electric heater. Not even the paintings, all by Idalet, are immortal – when she tired of one of her huge artworks recently, she cut the canvas in half and upholstered two chairs with the remains.’ – FAIR LADY, 16 JANUARY 1991.
In 2004, inspired by a small ornamental black horse, featuring on her coffee table, Idalet painted this most beautiful artwork: Les Paradis. 50 cm x 50 cm (unframed size). A framed acrylic painting on woodboard. Sold. South Africa.
